(Austin) – Between 2016 and 2017, the U.S. Census Bureau reported Pflugerville was the third fastest growing city nationally. As the population grows, so does the demand for more access to health care services for people with low income.
That’s why Central Health, and its partners, are hosting a community resource fair to discuss current and future health care needs in Pflugerville.
WHAT: A family resource fair offering information about current and future health services in Pflugerville. The event will feature more than a dozen organizations offering health-related services in the community, ballet folklórico performances, free food and drinks, and activities for families (i.e. face painting for children). Speakers will discuss future health care planning, changing demographics, plus a community update from Travis County Commissioner Jeff Travillion (Pct. 1).
WHEN/WHERE: 10 a.m. – 1 p.m., Saturday, April 6, at Rock Gym, 702 W. Pecan St, Pflugerville, TX 78660
WHO: Jeff Travillion, Travis County Commissioner (Pct.1); Rudy Metayer, Pflugerville City Council Member; Mike Geeslin, Central Health President & CEO; Larry Wallace, Central Health Enterprise Chief Administrative Officer; Stephaine Hayden, Austin Public Health Director; Sherry Fleming, Travis County Health & Human Services Executive; plus CommUnityCare Health Centers, Integral Care, Lone Star Circle of Care, MAXIMUS, BlueCross BlueShield of Texas, Dell Children’s Health Plan, Sendero Health Plans, Meals on Wheels Central Texas, and A New Entry, Inc.
WHY: Recognizing people with low-income face numerous barriers to accessing quality, affordable health care, the community is invited to get involved in planning efforts to bring more health services to the community.
