(Austin, TX.) – Medical teams from CommUnityCare Health Centers – funded by Central Health – and the Dell Medical School at The University of Texas at Austin are activating a medical clinic inside a warehouse located at 7000 Metropolis in Southeast Austin.
A mobile medical team is triaging incoming evacuees Friday morning and by Saturday morning, approximately six temporary examination rooms are being set up – 4 or 5 will be used for medical exams and care. The other exam rooms will be used by Integral Care to provide behavior health support and case management services.
The medical teams will be comprised of CommUnityCare providers, support staff and pharmacists, along with medical residents and faculty from Dell Medical School. If needed, additional support may be provided by volunteers from the Travis County Medical Society.
The goal is to first stabilize, and then treat evacuees. Providers will determine if more serious health needs require emergency medical services personnel to transport evacuees to local hospitals. Patients with chronic diseases will be transitioned into a chronic disease management program under the guidance of a trained case manager.

About Dell Medical School
The Dell Medical School at The University of Texas at Austin was created in unprecedented partnership with Travis County taxpayers, who in 2012 voted to support the vision of improving health and making Austin a model healthy city. Dell Med is focused on being a catalyst to help create a vital, inclusive health ecosystem, and to revolutionizing the way people get and stay healthy.
About Central Health
Central Health is a property tax-funded health care organization created by voters, which connects Travis County residents to high-quality care regardless of their ability to pay. We fund 19 CommUnityCare Health Centers and work with a network of partners including the Dell Medical School at the University of Texas, Seton Healthcare Family, and a variety of nonprofits to help people get well and live healthier. Last year our nonprofit health plan, Sendero, enrolled 20,000 people in health insurance, and 143,000 Travis County residents received health care. Because of Central Health’s investment in Dell Medical School, 287 medical residents are working in Travis County, helping Central Health eliminate health disparities so we can reach our vision of Travis County becoming a model healthy community.
